Done!

Posted in Cordon Bleu, Lunch at 11:26 am by jaweber

I made it!!!!!!!!! The practicals this morning were very difficult but it’s over and I swung by with a B in the class. Now I am officially done with Meat Fabrication forever and have a lovely little break ahead of me! I actually did really well on my chicken…I just worked very slow and carefully and managed to produce 2 (almost) perfect boneless skinless breasts and 2 boneless skinless thighs. But then the fish came. I don’t know why its so hard for me but it is and I cut my finger again today! I have never not cut my finger when filleting fish. Maybe that means I shouldn’t do it! The fillets turned out okay in the end though. Not my best and I could have done better but I got what I needed to to get a B in the class so I’m happy. ๐Ÿ™‚ I got home earlier than usual and made a nice little lunch. I don’t have these often because I don’t like to eat a lot of processed food, but for a once in awhile thing, they are fine—the morningstar farms buffalo “chik’n” wings. I ate a ton of morningstar farms products when I was a vegetarian in college and still would choose them over real chicken tenders if I had the choice. They are so tasty! I had 5 of them (one serving) with about 1/2 tbsp honey mustard, a sliced pear, 4 ounces plain yogurt with jam and 10 kashi crackers. When I finished I was still sort of hungry because the meal wasn’t as calorie dense as my usual lunches so I ate 5 more kashi crackers, a tiny piece of dark chocolate and made some Candy Cane tea! Now I’m all set!

My lunch…note that I did add 5 more crackers! Total (with the small chocolate) it was about 535 calories

Thank you all so much for all the well wishes for my practicals! I just love hearing from you guys, it really makes my day!

As for the rest of the day…cleaning until my friend gets here! We are going out to dinner at Roy’s Restaurant, where I work, and I am so excited because the food is AMAZING! I’ve been trying to plan out what I’m going to order for days because everything is just so good. I thought you guys might like to see the menu for yourselves! Here’s link: the sushi is to die for!

I’m happy because dinner is early tonight (6:30) and I love early dinners because I just get so hungry around then….I’m sure there will be wine involved but I’m going to try to keep it in moderation ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey Jenna! Congrats on your exam today!! Aren’t you relieved? We had finals last week and my stress level has gone down soo much since then! haha! I went to the store this am before breakfast and picked up the Mcanns irish oats…at first I jsut added a banana and they were boring, but then I added 1 tbsp of pb and it made it so good! I really like them- thanks so much for the idea! Also, I’ll have to try some of your spice ideas! I also got morningstar veggie burgers (110 calories, 3.5 fat grams each). Do you like these? I haven’t had them in awhile and really wanted them for fast meals !! take care!!

Thanks guys! It feels good to be done with all that raw meat! haha! Mel, I’m so glad you liked the oatmeal. I love that stuff! Peanut butter oatmeal (like I had this morning) is my favorite breakfast EVER–with a little maple syrup on top…SO good! did you add the banana to the oats before you microwaved it? that really makes a big difference because then the banana will magically “melt” into the oats. I actually have never tried those specific veggie burgers because I LOVE the gardenburger “original” veggie burgers and have never strayed! They are 100 calories each and have 1.5 grams of fat. I like to put a slice of cheese on top and some avocado sometimes. It’s one of my very favorites! I also sometimes take veggie burgers, heat them up and spoon a little marinara sauce on top then put a slice of cheese and stick it under the broiler until the cheese melts and the sauce is hot. It’s really good! ๐Ÿ™‚

Congrats on the exam today! It amazes me how much everyone loves oatmeal because I certainly don’t. Actually, that’s a lie, I’ve never tried it because the consistency freaks me out. I feel like I should though to find out what all the hype is about. Do you have any recommendations on how to ease myself into it? I don’t want to waste good oats but I also don’t want to miss out on something “so delicious” ๐Ÿ™‚

    Danielle,

You have really never tried oatmeal??!!! If you like peanut butter you should def. try my usual breakfast of 1/2 cup dry oats, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup skim milk, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1 banana and a little maple syrup. its so good!!!!!!! I think you should really try it…you never know- you might find a new favorite food! Let me know what you think…

sorry to stick my 2 cents in, but I have to share my first experience with oatmeal (the real deal…not the packaged stuff)! I figured “ok oats + skim milk…the end. plain. It’ll taste just like the kind in the little pack.” NO! Bland and gross! soooo through trial and error I learned you should definitely add to it — not just for the health benefits but for taste as well! After incorporating STUFF in and out…I now LOVE LOVE LOVE oatmeal because I can choose what goes in and how I want it to taste ๐Ÿ™‚ Walnuts, cinnamon, syrup (I use sugar free since the whole point of my ditching the packaged kind was for the added sugar. well, that and the fact that the portions from the packs are usually small compared to the plain oats, yet the calories are basically the same. hmmm gimme more not less!), banana, raisins, natural PB, etc usually do the trick! <– of course, not all at one time…in combinations ๐Ÿ™‚ Just whatever you do, don’t make the mistake I did or you may never eat it…plain=gross, but adding to makes oatmeal tastier and …well, healthier as long as you add the right stuff!

I love all these oatmeal discussions going on here! I’m excited to eat my peanut butter steel cut oats in the morning! (seriously, I think my whole day goes better when I eat that for breakfast?!) I just love STUFF in my oatmeal!

    thanks for reading guys!
